Navigation Glare Fix (My Method)

Postby ChrisE » Thu Sep 01, 2011 6:32 am

I tried a couple of methods to help reduce the glare reflection from the Navigation screen on my 2008 GL1800.

Not satisfied, I decided to do something about it myself. I manufactured this shade out of acrylic. So far it seems pretty successful, I've sold over 30 of them.

Awesome!!! I have an 82 GL1100 and the glare at night can be VERY distracting. :P

I've actually not ridden mine at night with the shade on, but others who have the shade state that it also stops the reflection from the Navigation screen up on the windshield.

I use the same idea on my portable GPS, both on my bike and in my car. I found it online sold as a GlareStomper:

Some people have figured out that you can slide a pipe cleaner in the edge to make it better formed - I may try this myself:

I see that you said you have sold 30 of them, how much are they and how would I go about purchasing one?

They are $25 shipped anywhere in the US and $26 shipped to Canada, I've sold three up there.

You can PayPal to cedwards874@comcast.net or send me an email to that address and I'll give you my home address where you can send a personal check if you prefer that.

I've sold 37 to date, I have more material arriving on Thursday, enough to build another 20.

I also have it listed on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200650020141&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1182

Thanks
