Trailer hitch problem

Post by oldtrikers » Thu Sep 01, 2011 7:13 am

I own a '99 Wing with a Hannigan Astro GT side car. I am looking at purchasing a Shur-Kamp tent trailer to pull behind it.

The problem is, when I mount the trailer on the bike hitch, the Shur-Kamp sticks out about 10" past my LEFT rear saddlebag, making the width of my total rig over 8 feet wide!

Does anyone know of a hitch that will mount in between the bike and side car so the trailer is in between the two?
Any help would be appreciated.

I've never heard of one. My question would be will your breaks be able to handle the sidecar and trailer?
Do you know the maximum weight recommended for pulling? I would like to know the answer because I have been considering a camper too.
Hope someone can help with your question.

I sure have never seen one....seems to me that could be a little unstable due to the difference in weight between the bike and the side car...if you had it braced to both. Might cause some strange pushing during stops. I don't know maybe I'm all wet...Think you would have to design something with an offset to move the ball to the center, but still all the connection to the bike.
