I just bought a '79 GL 1000 about a year ago and I love it. I was wondering is there any easy way to polish and make the alum and chrome shine. Also what products are simple to use.

Elbow grease and lots of time. (any of the metal polishes like AutoSol, Simichrome, Flitz, etc. will work)

8" Buffer wheel and lots of jeweler's rouge. (take parts off the bike and make a "project" out of it)

Dremel tool with polishing attachments and lots of patience. (spend a day or two laying on your garage floor getting dremel tool fuzz all over your clean white tee shirts)

Oh if you want the REAL easy way to polish it all up..... have someone else do it while you have a beer and watch!

Just my $0.02 worth....

Mothers chrome and aluminum polish is pretty good, but best to use it with a buffing wheel, takes forever otherwise. I just spent like 8 hours washing and prepping mine for a 5-6 day ride. I just purchased it and cannot figure how to get a picture of it one here, I sent one from my phone to my e-mail but cannot figure out how to get it to attach to message. Anyway I am the fourth owner of this bike and I swear I don't think the other 3 ever cleaned it lol. It took forever, but I did it right except for the wheels that would have took another 8-12 hours I am sure. Welcome to the forum all the guys and gals here are absolutely 100% great people you will love it here it is a wealth of knowledge and stories lol :)
