Just checking things out and noticed your add on. They are nice. Makes the bike. I remember when they first came out, my father begged my mom for months for a set. Enjoy.

I have a set of these covers on my 85 LE and I don't think they hurt the stator at all.

I was flirting with the idea of purchasing new chrome valve covers and those pretty chrome belt covers too, but they are a bit costly and I'm still licking my wounds from my last surprise purchase, my wife took a hickory post too me but good  .. I'm polishing up the old valve covers with Mothers polish for aluminum and mags wheels and it's coming along very nicely, patience is key using this stuff...and a lot of cotton rags, and a nice buffing wheel...and lots of elbow grease..looking good...The reason for the Beating was , new wind deflectors, new chrome intake covers, and a new chrome handlebar clamp, along with my side covers... It's ok guy's I'll be fine... Thata learn me..

I have no personal experience with these covers. Here is a list of threads at NGW that address the issue of stator cookers. I would seriously consider the negatives before I put these on my Wing.

Or just use them in the cooler months....I feel like such a dumbass now...I wish someone would have posted this information sooner, thanks for saying something RR if you didn't I'd still not know about this stator killer......Darn it... :( $200 down the tubes..Oh well, live and learn...Man I'm an idiot...My wife is really going to be pissed for real this time when she finds out about this.. ah F---udge.. :( Man I was going to chrome out the engine with everything I could and repaint the bike custom this time and now I don't feel like doing anything to the bike..My happy bubble just got broke... :( I told ya I'd get mine...and here it is... :(

you could always "poorboy it" like I did. then you can add more lights (safety lights) to shine off all that new chrome.

Don't worry about chrome rocker or belt covers either. Strip the clear coat off them and polish em! The polished aluminum has a much more lusterous glow than chrome. I think it has more depth than chrome. The stators on 1200's were a known weak point. Bad plug connections caused heat build up and failure. It's thought by some that the extra enclosure of those side panels aided in the heat build up and helped to worsen the problem. I don't know from personal experience, I've got an1100. Its a term I saw in other wing forums. Try the ngwclub.com for any polishing tips and other info as well. Good luck.
