best winter riding gloves

Postby 08YOUNGWINGER » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:26 am

Hello everyone!!

I'm am looking for a great pair of riding gloves for my winter riding. I don't really want to get a pair heated gloves, just an excellent pair of gloves FOR THE COLD. I live in upstate New York and I will be riding until they start applying salt on the roads. I would say easily 32 degrees and then add the windchill. All the talk is always about WATERPROOF, while that is great, I would like to know what gloves would work best at not freezing my fingers. I do have the heaters, and while they work for the palms of my hands, it's not so great for the wind hitting the top of my hands.
Again, I know, I should probably go with heated gloves, but.......what about some of the best that aren't heated.

Thanks for your replies.....

I spent a lot of time trying to figure this out myself, tried various cold-weather motorcycle gloves and combinations, and the best answer I came up with was regular leather motorcycle gloves, with winter ski gloves pulled over top. The only problem is that it really restricts your movement and makes it awkward to use the brake and clutch.

So I bought a pair of Gerbing's heated gloves. They heat on top of the fingers, and they're WONDERFUL. Excellent gloves, very warm, not bulky, and comfortable.

I know, not the answer you were looking for, but I figure after you do your investigation like I did, it's what you'll end up with as well. :)

Klim makes some nice winter gloves, but I agree that Gerbing Heated gloves are the way to go.
If you have heated grips, Klim even makes some that have no insulation in the palms.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.
