The 83 rear master cylinder is really hard to come by anymore, makes you wonder if the master cylinder bolt mounts are the same as previous years, if so these 83 linked brakes can maybe become magicially unlinked and re- modified like other years are, there would be a lot of mods. in the front too.... I think you are stopping the bike with just one brake pad on one side of the front [left] but I could be wrong ...Be careful..Or maybe someone has one their garage somewhere ...To send to you..

Thanks....If that's not an 83 shoot me a pm I might just get buy from you...I'm sure it's the correct kit..Someone sold you a 82 or 81 MC I bet... You should wait for more feedback first I agree...See ya... :D oh, and While you have it off the bike check that tiny return port hole...I'm sure the 83's have those, it could have a clog too and you don't want that..See Wingadmins. rear brake cylinder in the how too's for that.. If that port has a clog the brakes won't release so good.. :D

I also have an 83 GL1100 Interstate without the left caliper on the front brake working. This is really nothing to be worried about. In fact, I have tested the brakes heavily, making emergency stops (on purpose in controlled areas) to test it and have had zero issues.... it stops on a dime.

Of course, if you feel you really want the left caliper working I totally understand.
