If you're talking about the $10 "float charger" that they sell at HF, I wouldn't bother. I learned the hard (and expensive) way that the only thing that unit is capable of doing is destroying your battery over the course of a winter. The Battery Tender is an intelligent charger that doesn't keep trying to charge the battery when it's full - unlike the float charger which just keeps shoving power at the battery, sulfating and killing it.

It must have been one of the bad ones. I've used one on my bikes for 5 winters with no problems. (knock on wood)

I'm in too! Even though I just ordered a Battery Tender Jr ($20.99 at Amazon) I can use a second one for my other bike. :D
