White stuff? Where am I going to put all these bikes?

Postby WingAdmin » Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:05 pm

I woke up to horrible white stuff all over the ground this morning. This does not bode well.

I spent half an hour this morning with a measuring tape trying to figure out how I will fit two Goldwings, a 250 Yamaha, a Ford Explorer, a Buick, three bicycles, a lawn mower, a snow blower and a spare GL1100 engine into a two-car garage.

The trash cans have had to move outside, but for the most part I think it's going to work!

If you don't have room for the spare engine or the Yamaha let me know I think I have a place to put them ;)

You could buy one of these
http://www.shelterlogic.com/ProductDeta ... %20Garages

Set it up in the drive way in front of the garage and park your truck in it. Leaving your wifes car in the warm garage and the bikes in the other half of the warm garage. There is always a way

Maybe you could rent a heated storge room for the winter months, for the two smaller bikes....I know that 1500 is a monster of a bike...I had one in my garage for two weeks...Same colors and all...

I live about 10 miles away from Cyclemax, and Gary has some heated storage there. I think I may put the 1100 there for the winter - there's nothing that it needs to have done this winter, it's in excellent shape. The 1500, I have some plans for this winter, so I want to keep it here where I can work on it as I get time.

I don't live all that far from you BUT my daughters and granddaughters stuff is in there along with my wing and a VTX. I have to replace the front tire this winter on both bikes too.

I don't think "REMOVING" essential chrome safety equipment constitutes working on it,

:) Only chrome items I removed were the light grills - I just wasn't feeling them, and I didn't like the way they restricted the light output. I was really on the fence about doing it, but now that they're off and the adhesive is cleaned off the light lenses, I'm glad that I did it.

There's some not-so-well-done wiring done by a PO on the bike that I'm going to completely rip out and redo this winter. There's some small maintenance items I want to get on top of. But the majority is adding new things!

A mistake has been made   Dawgout81 he has 2 goldwings and a Yamaha 250 his wifes bike, 1500 is the latest and I think the other is a 82aspy., you should see the stuff he has on that 82.....Gps, satellite radio, it goes on and on lots of gadgets.. I bet he could roll that 250 into the house and put in his son's room, his friends will think he's the coolest having a motorcycle in his room.....

Actually, that was my wife's suggestion - to roll the 250 into the front (music) room, where we have a piano etc. and let it live the winter there. I mentioned to her the fact that the house might smell of gasoline and motorcycle as a result, and she suddenly seemed less enthusiastic about the idea.

We have room for the 250, it's tiny and can be tucked into a corner. It's just both of the Wings that is the problem. That said...we might have come up with a solution. We'll have to give it a try and see if it works, I'll try next weekend perhaps.

Took an hour ride this evening since the sun was out and around 55 degrees. Begining tonight it gets colder and wetter. This may be it for the season. I filled the tank, put in the STABIL, ran the gas out of the bowls, and hooked up the charger. Sweet dreams BlueBird!

I rode to work this morning, it was quite nice out. Supposed to be reasonably warm (and sunny!) tomorrow too. I'm taking it a day at a time right now. :)

How does the weight differ from the 82?

The dry weight (no fuel, oil, etc.) of an 82 is 700 lbs. The 2000 SE is 820 lbs. It definitely feels heavier. The 82 is faster off the line, and whereas the 82 has that monster torque peak that starts at around 4,000 rpm or so, the 2000 has constant steady torque almost from idle. The 82 feels faster, but the 2000 IS faster.

Warm weather weekend in Michigan. I got to watch Wolverines beat Buckeyes then take a ride on Huron River Drive. Hope we get to cheat the winter weather as long as possible.
