Missgoldwing: I own both 83gl and 83 yam ven both good bikes and i am happy riding both. The yam is a little quicker both weigh about the same and really the only difference is spare parts and advice such as this forum. Both in my opinion are great bikes.

Had one of each, but not at the same time. I preferred the Yamaha. But not by much. The Yamaha sat a little higher, ran a little faster and needed a little more maintenance. But all in all, if yo tossed them both in the air, I would have a hard time picking which one to catch, probably the Yamaha. But now I have an 1800 and see no need for anything else, except for maybe a newer one.

I'm sorry to be off topic here but when we lived in Montgomery for a few years on construction projects I learned of these boiled peanuts, I first thought how strange folks were to eat them,,,,  Then one day I tried them...Oh man I tried one then another next thing ya know I chowing on these things and I can't stop  .. If any of you guy's go thru any of the southern states you can find them, Cajun Style is my favorite, nice and spicy...I do speak the truth...Yummy.. Miss Goldwing I took a look at the suzuki and it's a fine looking machine, it lead me to one of my all time favorites the Voyager...I love that bike too..rally if I had to choose I would choose a 1981 Goldwing 11000 Interstate with no question...
