ticking noise in my 86 Aspencade

Postby Maurice Hardman » Mon Nov 21, 2011 1:36 pm

From start to 25 mph I have a slight ticking sound, but it goes away after 25 mph. I can't find out whats it is, does anyone have any ideas on this?

Right side, left side, front, rear, setting still, changes with rpm or just speed?
Possible ticking...
valve noise
spedo cable
playing card attached to the spokes...no..that was on my bicycle :D

If it's engine related you should hear it not moving.
Drive line related when moving, lift the front wheel and spin it.Same for the rear wheel.

I'm sorry, it comes from the front from idol to 25 mph. After that it goes away.

If it's there only while driving, centerstand it,and hand spin each wheel.try to isolate the noise to what area it comes from.

The fuel pump on the 1200 is known to have a ticking sound. ??

Mine did too.But I could hear it all the time.Almost sounded like a valve tick but didn't change with the rpm.I fixed that too.viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8642
