This weather!

Postby WingAdmin » Sat Nov 26, 2011 6:37 pm

So how many people took advantage of this gorgeous, warm weather we've had over the past few days? I think I've done about 250 miles or so in the past two days, just puttering around the local area. I could live with this permanently!

I didn't see a single deer today, although I've seen a couple in the past two days. I've discovered that they DO NOT like the air horn on my 1500. If I see a deer, hit the horn, the deer take off sprinting.

Well...so far it's been back into the woods, but I don't count on it - I slow way down before I try it, and kind of expect them to jump out in front of me.

Yes I was out the other day for a short ride to change the oil and put her away but the optimist in me is hoping for a fair day in December yet so I'm standing by for another ride!

i feel for those of you that live in the "cold white north" I really do. Being in S.W. Fl I ride all year. That's why I have just over 100,00 on my '06 Wing.

I suspect the end is near...I stopped by at Cyclemax yesterday and bought an oil filter (and air filters, plugs, etc), then stopped by Wal-Mart and got some engine oil, preparing for the end-of-season winterizing. The 1100 is put away already. Now I just need to do the 1500 and my wife's 250 Yamaha.

After 40+ years living in Cleveland I am glad that for the past 25+ I have lived where I can ride all year long. I will visit the "COLD WHITE NORTH" but refuse to live in it again. I feel sorry for those of you that have to put the machines away for a winter hibernation.

Your yard is starting to look like mine up here. We have been having mild days for the past week or so, snow is off the roads (just daring me to wake the bike from its nap) but it wont last. By the time I get home from work there is less than an hour of daylight left and the temp. drops to below freezing, too big of a risk for ice. I will hold out till after this weekend before giving up entirely till spring, would love to get at least one day riding in December. (deep sigh)
Ride safe, Todd

Well I went out for a ride last night, in below-freezing temps. The roads were clear, my gear was heated, and I was toasty warm! I say bah to snow! :)

So what's your thought on putting a car tire on the rear Wingdoc..Are you considering it? :D

I am totally paranoid about ice. Doubly so after reading about this guy on the Saunders site: GL1800 hit a patch of ice and went down.

I am really on the fence about this.

Pros: Super-long mileage
Cons: Less grip in corners, a little tougher to throw around in curves

I think I am leaning towards going with a new set of Avons for my 1500, simply because I was so floored with how fantastic they are on my 1100.

I first have to put some new tires on my wife's bike - hers are worn right out and need to be replaced. Man, I need to grow a money tree!!!

My bike is at a cycle shop in winter storage. I asked about new tires and ,since mine is a trike, about putting a car tire on the rear as I probably won't be leaning into corners, etc. He said he would NOT put a car tire on a motorcycle. So.... if I decide to do that (just thinking about it) I'll have to go somewhere else.

I can't understand why anyone would balk at putting a car tire on the back of a trike!! To me, that's a no-brainer.

That's what i thought and why I suggested it to him. Mainly because I have a Voyager kit and the bike's rear tire is still on the bike and driving the bike.
The trike won't be leaning, probably give better traction, and so on. But he is against it.

Maestro, get on the phone and call every shop in the Chicagoland area and ask your question, someone will do it, if I had a trike, i'd have car tires on it for sure..I wish I were closer, I'd install them for you for free and we could put those dynabeads in too..I'm sure many other members would do the same..Make those calls, and let us know what the shops say?
