It has been my experience so far with those Wingers that they won't even notice your trailer tent. They will, however, notice your bike. It is the one thing we all have in common, right? - our love of motorcycles of all shapes, sizes and vintages. If you have done absolutely anything at all to it tho, they will probably not consider it in the judging as a stock motorcycle, but will put it into the class of custom, where there are many many and few few prizes, But I agree with your wife - go for it. You will never know if you would like it till you have tried it. Just don't try to move too quickly around those Wingers, as most of them can't

It's only a couple hours from me...I'm not a GWRRA member, and it shows $50 for non-members to attend. I doubt I'd be able to get more than one day to attend - is there no "walk-in" rate for just the day, rather than the $50 for the whole thing?

To those of you who have been to previous Wing Dings, would you recommend that someone who has never been to one to go to this year's?

Absolutely. Everyone should go to at least one. I went to my first this year, and although I was not really geared up to go again at the time, it kinda grows on you. I did enjoy the ride, which I could have had going anywhere, but it was good that it took me close to Deals Gap and the Devils Triangle. The hall of vendors is pretty much mind blowing. I got my J&M MP3 player replaced for free. I could have got a set of tires - installed - for $325, which I will be looking for next year. I got a really good pair of riding boots for half the normal cost, from the people that actually make them, so the fit is perfect. Everyone who goes regularly to Wing Ding says Fort Wayne is the best place to have a Wing Ding, so this year is the year to go for an honest look. There are some things I will not do again, one being eating at the Wing Ding Event... There is much better food to be had in some of the restaurants within twenty miles of the venue. I only took a Harley for a demo ride - this year I will take all but Harley, lol. I really need to try a sport bike, in a controlled environment where I will not kill myself, And I need to be closer to the venue so I can come and go. 2011 I was camping 20 miles away by freeway, and so when I went to the grounds, I stayed past being tired. But then again, this meant that the campground I was in was not totally crowded with Wing Dingers. There were perhaps 20 only. We got to know each other better tho, for being few. I found Wingers as a bunch to be less aggressively macho than HOG members as a bunch. At my age, the less aggressive approach seems to be more attractive. So, I would definitely recommend at least one attendance at a Wing Ding.

We are going; not for the whole thing, but a couple of days. There are prob'ly 40 or so from our local GWRRA chapter going. It's less than 4 hours from the house and the weather should be great.....it'll be our first..

Alright. I think I'm going to try to get out there this year. Perhaps we should set up a meet-up?

Wing Admin...Fort Wayne a couple hours? How fast does that 1500 go? A friend wants me to go with him, but he wants to do it in a day. A little too much to get done in a day for me. Of course he is riding a 2012 Wing not a 29 year old one like me. What are the dates anyway? Dennis

And mostly the 4th will be registration, and that starts late. Really anything going on will be the 5th and 6th. The 7th is the closing ceremonies and most of the vendors are packing up.

Hmm....I've driven out there for work before and it only seemed like a couple hours...but now that I look it up, it says it's almost four hours. I guess my memory doesn't work as well as it used to. Still, easily doable, I can do that in the morning and again in the evening.

The dates are July 4 - July 7, 2012.

Ok 620 miles, about 10 or 11 hours with stops... Already have a place to stay about 6 miles from there.... It's doable..... Damn...checked the calendar and my vacation is scheduled for the following 2 weeks in Northern Michigan. Wifey would not like me going all the way out there and back just to turn around and drive to Michigan the next day. :x

I did think about it and if my brother would have been around that week i would have made the trip. He will be on the road the entire time. :(

I'm all for that. There should be a steak or burger place nearby. I'll ask my sons, in-laws. They go to that area fairly regularly so they should know a place.
