New to forum

Post by Joe USMC » Sat Dec 31, 2011 3:53 pm

:P I just registered. I have a 1986 Gw replete with a hitchiker side car I purchased in the spring of this year. It needed an abundance of TLC as it was reaally neglected. The purchase price for the entirety was a paultry $1000.00.
I did alot of rewiring as the previous owner believed in the twist wire/electrical tape configuration. The radiator had a huge leak that I silver soldered. I decided to replace the timing belt while apart. I cleaned up the dirtbag of a bike and did some much needed general preventative maintenance.
I have alot of questions I will pose in the appropriate sections.

Thanks, Joe

It sounds like you're well on your way to getting the bike in decent shape.

My 1100 had even better wiring in it when I got it - I found lots of "twist wire and there's nothing nearby for it to short out on, so just leave it" method of wiring. Just scary.
