rear air shocks?

Postby artib270 » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:39 pm

on my 82 aspencade someone removed the rear air shocks and put non air shocks.first thing i noticed was my air compressor didnt even work, then i got it working and tried airing up my forks, that works great although air leaks out within a few mins.so i bought new seals and wipers for front forks.im sure i can fix the leaky forks because one of you fellow goldwing guys gave me a few pointers and told me what to buy.thanks!ok on to my next dilema,i bought a set of real nice rear airshocks and they came with lines and the t valve (im gonna call it)the shocks and lines may be off an 83? well the t valve were the lines both go into is slightly different than mine and the two fitting were different.so i just took the fittings out of the t valve of the new one that came with the shocks i bought and used them, perfect fit.well just when i thought all is going great one airline is to short no matter what roughting i try!what im thinking is possbly the valve is located in another area on an 83?can anyone help?im thinking maybee stock 82 line for the left shock(in back of my left leg while sitting on bike)is a longer line?the valve were they hook up being on right side by rear brake lever.i own an autobody shop so ive been sanding all my luggage bags and trunk while i try to figure this out.im sure some of you wingnuts will be laughing at my dilema is it an easy fix?????thanks art

If it's Progressive shocks that you bought, there is a kit specifically for 1100's that gives you the lines and fittings you need to fit them to your bike.

I don't remember where I got my kit, but I got it at the same time (and from the same place) that I got the shocks.

Ok my question is about Progressive air shock on my 1994 GL1500SE. So how do you keep those plastic fitting from leaking air?

Thanks
Eric
