Happy Groundhog Day!

Postby Steve F » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:28 am

What does the little furry creature hold for our winter forcast? Whatever it is, I hate winter, even if it IS a mild one.
(It's also my 38th anniversary today :!: )

Happy Anniversary! I'm with you on winter sentiment, wish they could make Spring, Summer, and Fall longer and shorten Winter to just two weeks. Then we could have a little down time for bike maintenance. :D

Yeah, one groundhog does not see his shadow, and it means an early spring, which is in about six weeks......

another groundhog sees his shadow and it means six more weeks of winter.......

bout the same thing ain't they? Last several years, spring has come in with April up here, and so much for six more weeks,

They call that last storm in the final week of March a SPRING storm and it drops a foot of the white stuff... That don't look like spring to me.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

The weather lady on channel 11 said last night the ground hog has been correct in prediction 39% of the time (I think the weather lady was jealous of that success rate).

Maybe with odds like that the person who thunk up ground hog day got the information backwards in the first place and we've all been living with bad advice.

They have, it's called Texas!! I lived there for 7 years and winter never lasted more than a few weeks, but man summer was hot.. :)

Here in the Maritimes (Canada), the only thing good about Groundhog Day is that we start getting more noticable longer days - which in turn means that we are only a couple months away from digging the bike out and going for the odd run (weather permitting). I'm hoping for April! ;)
