Craigslist luck.....

Post by dawgout81 » Thu Feb 02, 2012 8:48 am

My 81' Interstate is apart in the basement getting a nice "spa" treatment (ie...belts, hoses, brakes) etc. I have been looking all over for some slip on turn down exhaust tips to replace the ones that came on mine (rusted with holes and patched with epoxy). The other night I was cruising the midwest online scrolling through Craigslist, typing "goldwing" into the search under motorcycles in various cities and under the Madison site a person in Watertown, WI has them. I've been looking for awhile since the '81 is not a common diameter for slip-ons.

Price: $25 including a front chrome fender bumper.

Even is 7 hours from my house, but the guy lives 2 blocks from my brother-in-law to buy them for me, and someone I know is going there next Tuesday and is willing to pick them up.

So I guess I have to admit I am an online buyer. I found my wing online last spring, bought 90% of the parts I need for the spa treatment online, found this site online to help me out, read what all of you have to say about wings, get my humor fix reading what littlebeaver writes and so on.....

I found my 88 "on line" at Craigs List too. But be aware of the 2010 goldwing fully loaded for $2500.Some of them are obvious scams.
Motto...If you can't see it,obviously don't pay in advance for it..period.
E-Bay and on line vendors listed above are another story...usually very good.I've never had a problem, but I do read all the feedback notes first before I click the "pay now" button.

Nothing wrong with buying online! My 1500 came from Craigslist as well. Just check the "Classifieds" link at the top of the page here.

Thats where I found my last cycle, and all was Ok. (Craigslist ) How ever my son bought a car, and that turned out to be a long story....we even checked it all over before he bought it. Son said never again will he buy from a private party. It was his first car on top of it. He drove mine when ever he needed a vehicle.

So you just never know buying used... ;)

I have also been lucky with Craigs list....have bought my 72 CB750, 84 aspencade and my 98 aspencade all from craigs list..I even bought my GMC Sierra there when it was less than a year old. Also bought a vintage 77 MBZ 300D out of Calif that my son went and checked out first. I flew in an drove it back to Texas. One thing or sure though, is you have to be able to go in person and check out the rides first....I would never send money. I have driven up to 250 miles just to check out a ride before buying....I consider myself lucky so far.
