Clogged idle jets, GL1200A

Postby mccorjay » Sat Jun 19, 2010 9:18 am

It appears both idle jets in the starboard carbs have just recently clogged. It idles on only the portside cylinders but runs fine on all cylinders down the highway, say above 2000 rpm. Is there any shortcut to cleaning or blowing out these jets without completely removing the entire assembly?

Try running a tank or 2 of gas using Sea Foam or MMO. The only other way I know is to pull the carb assembly. Others have had good luck with this, before taking the carb assy. off.

Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

Yupp... try the Sea Foam first. You've got about a 50/50 chance it'll work but it's worth the time and effort prior to tearing apart the carbs.

Walmart seems to be the cheapest place for procurement of Seafoam!

Its great stuff, should be around $9.00 USD for a can.

It also goes on sale at NAPA every once in a while for $6-7. I usually stock up when it does.
