Post by 2000 wing » Wed Nov 22, 2017 12:42 pm

I KNOW THIS IS A GOLDWING SITE, BUT I CAN GET NO HELP ON THE KAWASAKI SITE. MY 2000 1500 BOGS DOWN AT A CONSTANT SPEED, BUT WHEN I GIVE IT THE GAS IT RUNS GOOD. ANY IDEAS? i HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, FUEL INJECTED.

Hmmmmmm
Let's get to the basics...Your driving along at a constant speed and the bike just needs more throttle to keep it going.A battle between throttling down and throttling up.Theres no steady cruise.
Am I right so far?
I have no details about your bike but a good understanding of fuel injection.
Because it does accelerate and idle, you can eliminate the fuel pump and injectors.
This sounds all about controller systems.
The air flow is either fly by wire or mechanical to the throttle.Either way it is suspect if the throttle plate is floating loose and not staying where you command it.
Another is fuel control. The duration that the injectors stay open. This is major controlled by the throttle position sensor...Kinda like a volume control attached to the throttle plate.
Should it be poor condition or loosly connected to the throttle plate it may not "tell" the fuel system how long to keep the injectors open accurately.
Lastly is the fine control system.Usually just a vacuum sensor(the wings have 2)...These sensors along with O2 and temp sensors fine tune the fuel mixture...It's possible if a vacuum sensor looses vacuum or electrical connection the computer may go to "limp mode"...Or basic run mode.Enough to get you home.
You also may look to see if your bike is capable of displaying error codes...if any.
Hope this helps.

The wings do have a method to display error codes and I believe yours should also. You may have to research how to force the error codes if any to appear on your bike.

One question. Is your bikes throttle cable driven or fly by wire?

Would it be a rebuild of acelerator pump like on 1500 gold wing also fuel filter

This bike doesn't use an accelerator pump. Its fuel injected.Fuel flow doesn't sound like a problem..a twist of the throttle brings it back up to speed.
The description is while trying to cruise at a steady speed the bike starts to slow down by itself.
I'm suspecting either a problem with the throttle position sensor or a vacuum leak at one of the sensors.

Ok Virgil, I'll check them out thanks, also you said I think that the goldwing has a way to check the codes is that right? how is that done if so?. Thanks for all your help, and by the way the vulcan does have codes , so I will also go there.

At least on one of the wings, the code is displayed on the module.Yoirs should be on a indicator lamp but I don't know yet how to make it display the codes if any.
Just got a manual downloaded. Will read more tonight.
