I don't remember when or if I actually subscribed to a mailing list from this Atlas Obscura site, but I should mention that I like the emails I get from them, as they are not the kind of thing you find normally. In one of their most recent publications, they shared a link for "The Ultimate List of Wonderfully Specific Museums." I have dragged my kids to all kinds of museums, but I have not had a chance to visit ANY of the ones on this list, but I think I'm going to make a trip out of one or two of them by myself.
Here is a short list of the ones I find intriguing:
- Burlingame, CA - Pez dispenser museum
- San Antonio, TX - Toilet seat art museum
- Logan, OH - Pencil sharpener museum
- Saint James, MO - Vacuum cleaner museum
- Bradford, PA - Zippo museum
- Pauls Valley, OK - Toy and action figure museum
- Columbus, GA - Lunch box museum
- Embudo, NM - Gas station museum
I only listed those for which I have an actual interest in visiting, as well as restricting my own list to those within the US borders, but here is the link for the whole list, which includes several other countries and interests:
