I LOVE my bike storage tent, in/out in under a min ! simple

Postby CaptainDave » Sun May 11, 2014 1:02 am

FYI - this is MY BIKE HOUSE ;-) - I happen to know the manufacture of this bike tent in China, he is my friend.. I asked him to send me a Big Touring Tent for my Goldwing to TEST .. there are no other units in the USA .. and I love it ! - I pull up to the tent, lift the end up, push the bike in, close the tent - all in under a min ! - faster than my cover !! I also have a light inside - alarm - and a battery tender - and some shelves to store all my bike riding stuff .. I got it in Oct and it went thru mountain weather snow/sleet/rain/ice and strong winds recently and works fine with some minor mods ...... so if some other riders want to test these as well - I can get at wholesale - PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a solicitation - I am OLDER/retired and NOT a dealer or interested in any profit from this .. I have enough $$$ and don't need the small amount from this venture .... I simply want to help my Asian friend test his system here in the USA + and help some riders get a unique useful storage for their bikes ... someone else can do more if they like - - - - just thought I would share something POSITIVE with the group ;-) - your heart-felt feedback is appreciated guys

What kind of money would your friend in China be looking at per unit, Dave. These are pretty neat units.

Sadly, I do not and will not do fakebook. Thanks for the transposition.

Either will I but it's an open page with no need to register or sign in.

Thanks again for pointing that out. It still requires registering for fakebook in order to contact the supplier. His product is not the only one available however. See these ones.

You are not alone....I do not do fakebook either.....or any other "social media" like twitter, linkedin, or any others. They are nothing more than information mining areas.

How much different would this be than the 10x17 portable gartage from Harbor Fright that presently is on sale for $180??, or the higher quality shelterlogic 10x20 garage from Amazon for $300. I have both of these units and they last a long time. You can also get replacement covers when needed. Just wondering..

Having a floor is essential towards keeping condensation and the elements out. I found this product, though I haven't purchased it, I think it's the best solution for where I live in the New England area with the climate we have here. If anybody else has this product, I'd love to hear what their experience is with it.

Best,

When I purchased my 84 Wing I had no weatherproof storage and shopped thoroughly at various suppliers. I was impressed with Cycleshell's quality and locking ability. It is a top notch unit, built to order and comes in three sizes, the largest being suitable for full dressers. 45"×120" on a rigid floor. Just under $500.00, guaranteed for 1 year and replacement covers for $120.00. Best on the market, delivered in 2 weeks. My opinion...yours may vary.

Can you post pictures of your bike stored inside the cycleshell enclosure? Would be great to see the amount of clearance that you get with a goldwing stored inside.

I'll be away from the bike for a bit but will post a reply with a pic upon my return. My ride is in a post " new member relief". 84 standard.
Thanks Scott.

For overnight safety, the bike is in the garage.
Otherwise to work on it or EZ access, I have one of these with the zippered door.
It's large enough for both bike and trailer with room to walk around both.
Price is much less than what you all posted. I always buy on sale so I have a spare at the ready.

FYI: I use the "Driveway Alert" as my security.
Both receiver and sender are battery operated so it's portable.

And don't flirt with dirt or darkened oil, all the faster your engine will spoil.

Here are a few shots of the cycleshell. Just roll in, use side or center stand, fold over, lock, and you're done. Velcro around base and diamond plate pads for stands. Custom fitted to your bike.

Nice!! I appreciate it, as I am in a no garage situation with my 83 aspencade coming home, and I feel this will be the best solution for the next few months without a garage. Just curious what size did you order? Bike looks well kept, clean, and ready to go. Looks sturdy and well made.

Best,

I got the xl made for dressers. It comes with all base plates, mounting hardware, and complete directions. There is a bit of room in front for extra bags, tools, oil, coolant, cleaning supplies, etc. I hung a few dryer sheets as a deterrent to pests. If you can locate silica gel packets, it will help control a moisture condition as well. I hate corrosion!
This floor can be secured permanently by way of holes predrilled to accept anchor bolts. I have no affiliation with the manufacturer aside from being a satisfied customer.
Thanks for the compliment. It passed state inspection with no mods and gets 38-42 mpg on regular 87 gas.

I intend to get one in June. Seems like a rechargeable silica gel is the key to keeping corrosion at bay, no pun intended, so perhaps this is the solution:

http://www.theruststore.com/750-Gram-Re ... r-P57.aspx

Can't wait to get a garage. I don't feel like seeing my bike destroyed by the elements.

My 1st wing was an 83 interstate 20 years ago, and I used to get 30-35mpg as I had a heavier hand on the throttle then as I do now, so those gas mpg figures are a real nice bonus to ownership as opposed to driving my truck.

Enjoy the bike, it's a great ride-amazing how something 32 years old just keeps going and going....a testament to the quality of manufacture and engineering of honda. Great company!

Best,

Scott
