Rivco Hitch Install

Postby rbarnes59 » Fri Jan 01, 2016 11:32 am

Installed Rivco hitch on 2013 GWing this fall, utilized Rivco rack attachment on trip to Biketoberfest, super light, very well constructed, easy to install, really added a lot of carrying capacity, no issues as far as handling, glad I purchased, can't wait to get a trailer.

How difficult was it to install the hitch. I have purchased a used one, but won't be putting it on till April/May, when the snow melts. My 2005 is in the cold storage of my back garage.

Overall not hard at all, the bar that attaches to upper part of frame on right side of bike was a little tricky due to wire loom in that area, you want to be extra careful and not pinch wiring. Rest of install was very easy. You can download a copy of install instructions off Rivco website. Right now just using rack but really pleased with how strong and sturdy hitch is after mounting, I'm sure you will like it as well.

It is fairly easy to install if you have any mechanical aptitude. Just follow the instructions and should go smoothly.

Just a note: I have a used Rivco Hitch off my 2009 Gl1800 that come off when I did the trike conversion in January 2016. Includes a 3" and a 6" drop hitch tongue. I just have to make sure I have everything together so it can go on the for sale boards.
It will fit 2001-2010 GL1800's. It does not come with the trailer wiring isolator or the 1 ⅞" ball. Will have photos soon.

Installed one on a 2004 1800. We struggled with right side brace until we loosened bag on that side and slid it out just a bit. Then we repeated that procedure for the other side. Things went smoothly after angling bags outward. Didn't like safety chain hookup positions. They are under rear cover below license plate. I made a set that I mounted under the hitch ball.
