GL1800 Sun Visor for OEM Navigation Display

Postby Coop19742 » Wed Mar 09, 2016 4:39 am

Thought I would give a heads up for two products that are intended to help shade the Navigation display for viewing. The first one I tried was a Vizon-X sold through wingstuff.com. The idea was good but execution was lousy in that it does not fit the recessed space on the fairing. I tried two of them from two different batches and neither fit right. Wingstuff is aware of problem since they gave me a refund and return shipping label both times. WingStuff is a good group to work with overall.
I ended up doing a browser search and came up with a website called gl1800visor.com that sells a fantastic sunshade for the Goldwing. The fit is perfect and he has multiple pictures on his website that show you different views. My understanding is the Navigation recess on a GL1800 has remained the same since 2006. His pictures show a 2008 GoldWing but I have a 2015 (shown) and it fit exactly the same as his pictures show. If you have trouble seeing your map on sunny days this is a great solution.

+1 on the nav screen visor. I have had mine for 2 years and like it. It won't work all the time in all situations but for the most part it does as advertised at not too much of a cost out of pocket.

Just as a follow up the GL1800visor is adjustable depending on where sun is in the sky. The hook and loop that is located on either side of visor can be unhooked and using the top of visor as a hinge you can position the angle of visor up or down before reattaching the hook and loop sides. There is a pretty big range of angle so if you still get glare when riding with visor - try to re-position it's angle.

If you don't have the factory nav, and rely on an aftermarket GPS, there is a product that works really well for this as well, that I have been using for years: the Glare Stomper

Have given the contact info I could find a try with no luck.
Any idea how to contact these people or someone else with an item like this?
It looks like it would work great and I really want something to cover the nav.

Just copy gl1800visor.com into your browser serch engine and it will take you to the correct sight. I just tried it again and it works fine. I used this shade on a cross county trip 10,000 miles in June and it worked super great. Would not recommend anything else for the built in Nav system on a gl1800.

Thanks Coop19742,
That's the site I went to and have sent two e-mails asking for info but have gotten no reply.
I am doing something I never do, but I am sending them a check without knowing if I will get the item before I leave on my next longer ride (next Sunday).
I hope they can help and get the item to me next week.

Thanks again.
