Spring Break at the beach

Postby littlebeaver » Sun Mar 17, 2013 12:11 pm

Oh man, I took my wife and daughter Amanda with two girl friends to the beach Saturday during this Spring Break weekend, we took two seperate vehicles, I had two very good reasons for this,,, first reason, I didn't want to cram the girls in on a long trip, hey it's a whole 2 1/2 hrs. down to Port Aransas ha ha.....Second reason is I wanted to take three bikes to ride on the beach and my canope and some big ice chests full of stuff.. Sooo I drove my truck down...We got our stuff together and headed down at 7 am and we got there at 9:30 or there about, I think people we still recovering from Friday night because it was pretty quiet...But the beach was full, cars, trucks and trailers lined the beach side parking areas, there were so many people there it was hard to find a spot...Wow...We found one and I set up our canope, then I went for a bicycle ride first thing up and down the beach several miles and back...the three girls walked the beach and enjoyed all the people up and down and they looked as though they were having a really good time.... As time went on it got warmer by noon and then I noticed the crazies started to show their faces, lines of cars started forming and all the young people were jammin and having fun,,, it was wild for sure..The girls wanted to go cruzin in the back of the truck so I took them, they are only 15 or 16 but I wanted them to enjoy all the boys out there and have some fun, I told them to yell at them too  Let off so steam, enjoy yourself to the fullest, don't stay quiet, holler at a cute boy if you want, make his day... ..Oh man, I spoke too soon... Some guy jumped in the back of the pickup and offered some beads to the girls [mardi gras beads] and to my surprise my daughter ran him off,,,I felt the weight of something and looked in the back of the bed and saw the young good looking fella back there,, ha ha ha I just smiled as I knew that the girls were freakin out and having a blast,,,I wanted them to have a blast and they were....You are only young once and I had a handle on it....They all saw things that they will remember for a long time, and they will never see these people again...I hope..,we cruzed down the beach for miles and it was total insanity,,girls are showing their boobs for beads, and guys would stand on the side of the road offering them...I have never seen this at our Texas beach before. ..What??? What/?? they didn't do that when we were young..Shoot..man... We would cruze and have fun and drink lots of beer and fall out of the truck and such but none of this **** stuff..OMG....some little boy liked the girls in the back of the truck and threw some beads to them...funny stuff, when we got back my wife had this look on her face  ,,Where did you get those girls  she asked  ...I just laughed ...I hope you didn't....... I replied ,Nooo Penny relax some little boy threw them to the girls..Made his day I think...Oh man the girls got so harrassed by guys and men that they got a lesson in what happens on Spring Break but I was right there so many of them toned it down...It was fun though...I took them out on the Jetties...A mile long pile of big ass stones that people fish off of... It's hard enough walking these stones sober....They get all drunk and fish and such way down the jetties, then have to walk those rocks back  [insanity], the jetties goes out into the ocean a good mile....It's like a giant pier but made of big stones..Amazing...The girls had a great Saturday, I took three bicycles down to ride on the beach..They did and had lots of fun doing so..We took our canope and the wife and I chilled out under it and had some munchies...Mostly enjoyed the views, oh Lord help me, there were some views.... I saw a 1200 goldwing parked out front of mans set up and it was cool..He made it a trike looking thing, kinda a truck...Before we left I stopped and asked him if I could take his photo...Made his freakin day..I could have spent hrs with him and his bike but we were leaving and they were all waiting for me.. This was the best saturday I have had in a long time....The joy of seeing my kid having fun with two friends was just amazing to us and priceless, we are moving and that is killing me inside because we will be taking her away from them because of a freakin job.....I was going to go fishing and just take off on my own, but.. I decided to stay and keep an eye out on them and take them cruzing instead.. I can go fishing anytime.. Keep a close eye out..I think I did the right thing,,besides I really enjoyed my wife's company...We talked and laughed and made some new friends...The water is a special place, whether it's a beach, lake, river or creek, you will find happiness around water....Watch people change when they are around water....Everyone becomes, happy...It's the magic of the Earth. then everyone gets back on the interstate and goes back to cussing one another.. ..

I should have taken more photo's but I didn't...I did take a video of some seagulls and some cars cruzing but I haven't downloaded them yet....I hear South Padre Island down near Brownsville is pretty wild too...Wow...The grilling that was going on was to die for..The good smells...Ummmmmm...the girls...The warmth, the wind was perfect..Sorry about this northern dudes.. I did see a lot of Northern State's license plates down there though..Even one from Alaska... :shock:Oh and Monday is going to be 95 degree's... 89 today...

It's alright for some.
The forecasters here, if you can believe the blighters, say the coming week will bring us snow, rain and high winds.
Roll on summer.

Yep Chief, we are gonna get a lot of the same. Forecasted to snow like heck for 12 hours or so. Gonna give us back everything that we have lost over the last couple weeks. This winter is hanging on tight. It seems March came in like a lamb and so is gonna go out like a lion. I hope to heck it warms up after this. It is 3 degrees F here this morning.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

When I was 10 years old this hurricane came through and really dismantled my parents place they just bought a year earlier, put all they had into it...Really did a number on it...We also had a home in San Antonio, my Dad ran the Motel at the coast and we went down often..Who knew this would happen...

Sounds like you had a great time. I thought about going down myself, but didn't make it. But, I got the yard cut, a couple tires that needed fixin taken care of and a little more work done on the 75. Had a long talk with the cardiac specialist on the 15th...washed the car, and did a few honey-do's. Next thing I knew, the week was gone. But I think spring/summer is here to stay so will get the riding time in.
