Going south but not BRP

Postby lhelber » Sun Apr 13, 2014 12:08 pm

I am heading south from Rochester NY to Atlanta GA. I was wondering if there were any recommended routes. The shortest is interstate via Columbus Oh. But that is not fun. I was thinking Through PA, WV, VA etc but I want to stay away from I-81 because it is too crazy with truck traffic. I have done the Blue Ridge Parkway and it is nice and scenic and twisty too slow. I know I followed a state route that ran along the base of the mountains for the BRP and that was fun, higher speeds, no traffic and plenty of small towns to stop at.

Does anyone have any routing suggestions?

Here's a route with a pretty good mix of twisty stuff and roads that you can make some time on. All of it pretty scenic!

It took a while but I was finally able to get that route into a GPX file so I can use it. Thanks to gpsvisualizer.com
