Trip to NW USA and Oregon Coast

Postby cbx4evr » Tue May 27, 2014 7:37 pm

Hope to be riding off next week for a tour that will have me passing through Idaho (Lewiston), Washington (riding around Mt. St. Helen's), Oregon coast (wife has to see the ocean), west from Florence, OR to Baker City, back to Idaho, then Montana before heading back north to Canada.

Any forum members in the vicinity of this route?

It's day by day. don't have a solid time line. Somewhere around June 5.

Our plan is to ride to Randle, WA and then head south along NF-25, although not to sure about the condition of that road, to Cougar and then to CastleRock area to overnight. We figure on taking a day to ride out to the Observatory and visit the site. See you are right on that highway. Were you there when the mountain blew??

Randle is the north end entrance, then you go over the top and down to Cougar, which is the south side, and Castle Rock is the west end (I am 10 mile from Castle Rock). There is a good hotel that is east of I-5 exit in Castle Rock....I believe it is the Mt St Helens Motel, very clean. Parkers (restaurant) is right next door, and then Pepers 49er is a great place for breakfasts. If you are traveling by June 5th, I will be working (gotta support the habit, lol).

No, I was not here when the mountain blew, I did move up from California in 1990, and have been here ever since. It is out of the way a bit, but I really like it. There is no way we could have the property we have now down in California, it would have been way too expensive.
