Christmas day

Postby detdrbuzzard » Sat Dec 26, 2015 8:59 am

woke up early ( again ) and it was close to 40º by 8am. I was moving awful slow and finally close to noon I started getting ready for a ride. with fleece lined jeans under the new klim latitude pants I knew my legs would be warm, I wore the klim misano latitude jacket along with the gerbing heated jacket liner to keep the upper body warm and wore the Olympia wolf Gore-Tex gloves. I plugged the jacket liner in but never turned it on, the thermometer on the mighty ST1300 was showing 46º when I pulled out of my driveway. I took tireman ave. east then took w. grand blv. east to woodward ave. I haven't been that way in some years and with all the construction going on it will be awhile before taking going way again. I took woodward south, I wanted to take some pic's while I was downtown but there was no safe place to park. I headed east on Jefferson ave. and surprised my brother with a visit, I've only seen him once all summer but I told him that we need to get back to visiting each other every couple weeks which means i'll be visiting him every couple weeks.

I know how my brother feels about his privacy so I didn't bother taking a pic, we just talked and got caught up on whats going on in our lives. he came out and checked out the mighty ST1300 and commented on my klim riding gear before I headed off for mom's. the thermometer on the mighty ST 1300 was showing 49º on the way to mom and I had a light head wind which I didn't notice with the new clearview windshield installed, the extra width flows more air around me. some pic's from in front of mom's

I left mom's with plenty of time to get home before sunset but I detoured and went to belle isle and got a couple lakers, on up bound and the other down bound passing each other. that put me behind so after leaving the park I sped down Jefferson and took the I-375 loop to I-75 south. I took I-96 west the I-94 west, don't ask how that works. I exited at livernois ave. and took it north to tireman ave, west on tireman ave. for home, beat sunset by 10 minutes and that concludes my 28 mile Christmas day ride, temp back down to 46º

Wish I would have seen this site sooner. I managed to ride about 20 miles on Christmas day.
I don't recall ever having done that before. Temperature was in low 50's(F). I know that's not bad at all for some but remember, I am a fair weather rider.

It was actually better than I thought it would be. With that tall windshield, wind wings and a little engine heat, it wasn't bad at all. But it's not summertime enjoyable. :D.
That's what I'm looking forward to!
