First Ride for 2016

Postby nitefuzz » Sun Feb 21, 2016 3:40 am

Riding in February is a first for us. It was around 60 degrees here in Northern Indiana on Saturday the 20th. We got the wing out and rode 100 miles. As the sun started to go down so did the temp, it dropped fast but we got home before the wife got to cold. We had a great ride.

Jealousy abounds here in the Great White North.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

Oh, don't I wish...in Portland, OR, I drove to work last week (lucky, in the car), slowing down and turning left, actually slid the car, could not believe it. Went golfing yesterday, it was 35 degrees but icy again.....really need to get out of this funk.

Well it's supposedly winter here in Alberta, Canada but I didn't let that stop me today. Back lane is still too wet to get the Goldwing out but managed a ride on Feb. 21, 2016 anyway.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

I managed a short blast on the 13 the of Feb. I borrowed Brad's bike to do it. I figured it was fair, after all I did the work on his bike. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

I have been able to take rides around town the last two days here in NE WI. Probably a little chilly but I had the itch (so did my daughter- I took her on a short jaunt). I didn't want to get my Goldwing out (not quite that optimistic about the weather over the next month or so)so I rode my smaller Honda.

I was fortunate enough to get in a short ride New Year's Day and then a nice 3-hour ride January 2nd (picture attached). February 19th I was able to ride to/from work for the first time this year. February 21st I was able to spend the afternoon going on a ride and this time my hubby decided to join me on his bike. Sure have been enjoying the mild temps - now if it would the wind would just quit gusting 40mph and up spoiling the other nice days!

Hi T=Trouble. Your bike appears to have the same windshield mine has. Is that a Tulsa Tall windshield?
Your bike also looks like it's seen a little less sun than mine. Looks good with all the paint all the same color.

i'll be dropping the mighty ST 1300 off at the shop for tires tomorrow and plan on getting out on the wing so expect a ride report with pic's soon. I have a few friends in WA. and like you they are starting to get spring fever and are ready to get out for a ride. the lack of snow here in se Michigan and the excess rain means the salt has been washed away and other than the over abundance of potholes riding season has arrived

That a boy....nice turn a round....I always thought the ST is a nice 2nd bike, and who knows where I will go if I get there, I do really like the cruisers too, always used to ride twins as a 2nd....hmmmm.

MORE PICS ON THE RIDE....and yes, the bikes are just starting to come out in WA, I see one every once in a while, but it will pick up, they are talking 70 next weekend (not this one) and no rain,.....ya right.

Had first ride of the season today and overdid it. So sore and taking advil. Just meant to go for a leasurely ride and come back home. Enjoyed every minute of it. This must be the price that we pay for not riding year round. That and old age catchin up with me!

On a side note have been considering a 2nd bike but there are so many good ones to chose from. Have even started to warm up to the idea of perhaps an adventure bike. Just waiting to see what kind of deals show up this spring :D

Hold the thought on a new bike....I have a new conversation piece for April...

On that note, unfortunately, wife and I bought a 2006 Pontiac Solstice....yes, I need to have my head in the wind somehow, either on 2 or 4 wheels....a cool little car, totally impractical (no, it does not fit my golf clubs at all, not even close) but it has a great sound system, convertible, and great price to boot.

I sold my '86 mustang lx 5.0 convertible last year, I miss it! well I got a pretty good ride in today on the mighty ST1300. Detroit, mi out to Jackson, mi. then up to lansing, mi and east to Webberville, mi. to meet up with a friend and break in the new tires. I took grand river rd. back to Wixom, mi. then got my butt on I-96 to speed thing up some. then to slow back down I exited at levan rd. so I could pick up hines drive and cruise through the park. I took outer drive over to rouge parkway so I could cruise through another park, this put me a few miles out of my way as I ended up at m-14 for the final miles back to the house and a total of 188.5 miles with the fuel gage showing a hair under the half tank mark, I love the mileage the mighty ST 1300 gets
