BBG/SS3K

Postby bntyhntr6975 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 2:24 pm

I think I still have jet-lag, and never got on the jet.
Last weekend, a buddy and I re-embarked on a trip that was botched last Sept due to a tire blow out.
We left Ks (a little N of Wichita) at 10:20pm Thur night, and made it to Sparks (Reno), Nv in under the 24hr deadline. 22.5 actually. After a crappy meal at Outback Steakhouse, we hit the sack.
On the road again just after breakfast, we made it just over half way back by dark, stopping at Rawlins, Wy for the night. The food was a LOT better there. Hit the sack again.
After breakfast, we hit the last leg of the trip, making it back home before dark. And more importantly, before the 72hr deadline.
The bikes (both gl1500s) did what they were supposed to do.
It was a 2hr ride to his house to start, and 2hrs home after, but it was worth it. To and from his house were the only times I got wet and it wasnt bad. Over 3300mi and less than 1hr of light rain the whole trip isnt bad!
I should get my paperwork sent in real soon, and then the wait.
He says he doesnt think he'll do any more IBA rides but I'm already planning something. But its not gonna be quite yet!

Wow! Over 3,300 miles in 3 days! My posterior gets sore thinking about it.

What does BBG/SS3K stand for?
(Actually that's why I read this post. )

Iron Butt Association has various rides. BBG is Bun Burner Gold (1500mi in under 24hrs). SS3K is Saddle Sore 3000 (3000mi in under 72hrs).
Theres smaller rides too. And lots bigger ones.

Oh okay. Thanks for the explanation. I've heard of the Iron Butt Association before but that side of motorcycling just never piqued my interest.

And some (like me) can't for medical reasons.
