Eastern Arizona Loop

Post by coolrogue1 » Tue Nov 15, 2016 8:37 pm

This is a 2 day ride, because I stop so many times to just gawk at the scenery, It starts and ends in Apache Junction, Arizona (where I live) I stop for breakfast at MIckey D's Cafe in AJ. The loop goes from desert elevation to over 10,000'... I usually stop for the night in Eagar or Springerville which are about 1/2 way around the loop. Part of this ride follows the "Devils Highway" State Route 666, which has been changed to State Route 191 also known as the Coronado Trail. Here's a link to a map of the route I made... https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... 390915&z=8

He had his settings set to private, and has now set them public so it works. Yeah, I have ridden all over that area. Wonderful riding in the fall, winter and spring. Pretty hot in the summer "BUT IT IS A DRY HEAT" Hahaha. If you follow hwy 60 from Springerville into New Mexico, a person would end up in Socorro on Interstate 25 north/south. I lived there for 3 years, and rode over a hundred thousand miles in those three years. I hate to say it here, but them miles was all on Harleys. Some canyons going up to places like Silver City on Hwy 152 would about deafen ya when a group of 30 or so HDs with loud pipes would echo through there. Young and foolish days them. Lot of really good memories. I would like to try some of those roads again silently on a Goldwing. Bet it would be just as much fun.

Thanks coolrogue1 for the memory triggers. :P

It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
