Hey, this sounds like a thread I will be following. I have had the pleasure of traveling to 46 states in our wonderful country. Washington and Oregon are 2 that I haven't visited. I look forward to visiting them with you in this thread. I hope it all goes well for you. Safe Travels!!

Glad the weather and scenery are to your liking. :D
Some nice campgrounds out by the ocean near Coos Bay. (Charleston)
Great photo op at Simpson Reef Overlook along the Cape Arago Hwy.
You'll hear them before you see them!
If you decide to cross over along Hwy 138, there's a very nice BLM campground along the river not far past Glide (fill up with gas!) called Susan Creek. I wouldn't venture too far past that if looking for a campsite for the night, as you'll be gaining elevation and snow will be covering the sites.

As far as a new sleeping pad, if you're a side sleeper, then a Therma-rest is not a very good option unless it's over 3"+ thick when inflated. Look instead at an Insulated Big Agnes, or an Exped Synmat inflatable. Reason being you'll compress the Therma-Rest with your shoulders and hips grounding out, resulting in getting a lousy night's sleep.sleep. Either one of those will also be more compact.

Keep the reports coming!

Hey guys, sorry. My phone was acting up. I'll do a summary video for everyone soon. I did make it back. See the Spotwalla for the route. My phone was restarting and giving me fits. I did get home yesterday afternoon. Was a good time.....even though I got snowed on at one point. lol.

Dusty,
Will definitely look into the sleeping pads further as you suggest. I went as far south as Reedsport. I stayed at Millpond campground just past Glide on Monday. It was deserted and wonderful. I'll do a video soon. Sorry to leave you hanging!

Good stuff! Thanks for the update. 8-)

With MotoCamping, like any aspect of motorcycling, your enjoyment and proficiency improves the more you do it. You learn what works for you and what doesn't. Your 'style' is always evolving to a level of efficiency for your style/comfort.

For me, I like to be on the road fairly early (sometimes going down the road by 5 am, depending on what month) and generally pulling off and setting up camp by 3:30 - 6:00 at the latest. That allows me to leisurely set up camp, cook supper, explore the campground/area and usually chat with like minded people/field questions from the curious .... then repeat. ;)

Those were some of my favorite pictures from the trip. I took a total of about 400 but those are more favorites. From the ocean to snow at Craters of the Moon.

Just got done watching your summary video and glad you had a great time. The sharp blind turns to either left or right, (left for you) that are a bit intimidating, improve with practice. A little thing called counter steering is immeasurably valuable, if you are not already doing it. It is where you push the left handlebar forward to go left, and push the right handlebar forward to go right. This does give a lot more control and especially the feel of a lot more control to your turn. Not saying I recommend this next, but this is what allows peg scraping in the twisties.

It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
