The paint I kinda figured any gas leaked would ruin I need to paint with something that can take some drops because as we all know it happens often. I know grinding and painting is the only solution to rust and the longer its there the bigger it gets
LOL this is now OUR forum!
Yeah there is a leak from the exhaust on both the sides of the bike and both sides of the adapter like peices. I am going to clean it up with green scratchies(also works great on paint and chrome) and steel wool. Then have a master welder friend weld them shut then grind flush and repeat.
im gonna send you a PM. give me a couple of minutes, then look to the right of "notifications" and click on "private messages".

Any1 know a place that makes custom trunks or has trunks for the gl650 near Lansing MI? Riding distances still kills my back and I figure having the large trunk with the back rest on it will help. That or just a back rest that fits between driver and passenger seat? My most common ride is about a hour and I don't like to make stops to rest my back. Found 1 on eBay but its blue and I want one asap I may have to settle and repaint but looking for something close.

hey elmonda:

I have this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kuryakyn-Ultra- ... 54&vxp=mtr

I strap it on the back seat and use it as a back rest for when im going on a long ride. I had it when I went down to Florida last summer and i'll tell ya, it really helped. not only was it functional as a back rest, but I had it full with clothing and other "stuff" I needed for a whole month stay. well worth the cost. nice thing about it is I can remove it and take it into the motel room with me or on the beach. I don't have to leave it on the bike.

if you use it as a back rest, put the center zipper side towards you and strap it down to the back seat and your saddlebag rails. with the zippered side towards you, it will have a little "give" and will make your ride a lot more comfortable.

I may just have to get one of those.
On a different note I still have my exhaust problems can any1 with a gl650i take pictures of their center links of the exhaust so I know what it is supposed to look like? The guy I bought mine from said he did some work to it but it leaks there. I want to weld it but I don't want to weld the clamps that are there. I'm debating just waiting and getting all new.

Yeah I think I'll just go with one of those bags you were talking about Stuart.
Just thought I'd throw this out there, my gl650 supprised me the other day riding next to my cousin (he has cbr600) we were taking off from a stop sign and without piping the clutch my front tire came off the ground. I honestly never expected this bike to be able to do that wasn't far only about 6 inched but still props to the silver wing.

Hey guys new to the site just have a question.. I'm doing my rear breaks got the tire off but can't seem to be able to get the breakhub out. The book says to just pull it off but something seems to be holding it on. I followed every step so I'm lost is the book missing something to take off.
