1975 GL1000 ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Postby muncher9707 » Fri May 11, 2012 10:47 pm

I just bought a 1795 GL1000 and there was a birds nest of wires inside the left side fazlse tank cover. I added some lights to the red ones already installed under the gas tank to light up the rear wheel. Everything was fine. I attempted to ad more lights to the front but blew a fuse and while replacing it the fuse hold came off in my hand. One end was attached to the positive side of the fuse box but I could not figure out where the othed goes to because it came off in my hand with about 1/8" wire on the end. The fog lights were incandent so I removed them and the wiring thus reducing the wires under the left side false tank and thought that inline fuse went to the fog lights. Now the motorcycle will not start. It turns over but will not start. I know it is impossible to trouble shoot here but if I only get some suggestions on what to check and how then it will be worth the effort. :?:

It will be hard, but take a few close up pictures.Something that can be stitched together. Also, download the schematic and print it out.
The NO START sounds like NO spark.look at the schematic to follow the wires.

It has an electric fuel pump that was hooked to the accessory side of the fuse box and when I hooked up the running lights I blew that fuse so it was getting no gas. I intend to redo the wiring but have riding to do now. I broke a turn signal but have after markets ordered for cheap.
