So in my long line of things I need to (and want to) do on my '77 and '78 I want to replace the timing belts...both bikes are hitting about 44,000miles and I don't know the history on the timing belt.
How long should I set aside to replace these? Anything in particular I should pay particular attention to or anything the might be annoying during the process?

Re: Timing belt replacement
Some folks like to remove the radiator to improve the view. Do not base belt replacement on miles, they fail more commonly with age. If they are over 5 years old, they should be replaced.

Re: Timing belt replacement
I have the shop manual. 5 years...that's nice to know. My '77 was a storage unit find...so it needs replacing for sure. the '78 was in a similar state. So definitely time to replace.
