Fuel pump problem?

Postby jwheels14 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 4:41 pm

I just got a '79 Gl1000 and it is surging as it idles, when it hits the low point it sometimes dies at the high point is all the way up to 2000 rpm. I have messed with the idle adjust screw and got it better but it will still surge. Could this be becuase of a weak fuel pump or a bad diaphram, I took the top off of the pump and it looks ok but it still surges. Any help would be appreicated. This is my first post and I did a search and didn't find anything.

The last fellow that hat that type of surging had a bad vacuum leak.
It was a broken "O" ring on the intake tubes where they bolt to the head. There easy to dislodge during assembly.viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12991
