GL1000 ignition problem

Postby ntintruder » Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:11 pm

1976 GL1000 not running on two rear cylinders. I put an inductive test light on the plug wires and no spark. The bike has dyna coils and the dyna electronic ignition. Anybody have a suggestion as to the most likely source oif the problem ?

Either the coil for 3 and 4 cylinders or one of the Dyna modules has failed. Dyna modules used to have a problem for failure. You can check the module's output as though you were doing a static timing. That is the first step before checking the coils.

if you have no test equipment I have in the past switched the positions to see if the problem moved to the other cylinders. Just a thought

Coils can fail but not often. So check power to the coils first then check th Dyna output.
