KZ550 - oops I messed it up

Postby JellyBelly » Sat Aug 18, 2012 10:21 pm

So I bought a KZ550 for my wife because she said the GL1000 was too big for her.

It runs perfect...or should I say did...

I was rewiring some lights because the previous owner isn't as OCD as me and had them showing really bad...so I rewired them but wired them up wrong. Needless to say when I turned the bike on and pushed the start button...I heard a small pop and lost all power.

I thought that I may have just blown a fuse...but I checked all the fuses on the bike and they all were fine.

So what else could I have messed up? And why didn't the main fuze catch it?

I know this isn't a GL1000 but I thought you guys my have an idea of where to start.

So no pop until you engaged the starter button?

Following the power from the solenoid to the starter Motor is not a bad job, the wire is big. It is possible that the engine ground went bad too. So check both ground at positive.

so I hooked up my battery charger and that actually gave me power. not enough to start the bike but I have the battery charging. We'll see what it does in the morning.
