GL1000 IGNITION COIL CHANGE

Postby rosie2012 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 9:56 am

Hi there, I am restoring a 1977 GL1000 and I have a query with the wiring of replacement ignition coils. This old bike came with 2 replacement coils but the colour on the wiring is different. The old coils have on the right yellow and black/ white on the left yellow/blue and black and white. The replacement coils both have a black and a orange. On the old the black/white go to the handle bar switch with the yellow and yellow/blue going to their respective connectors. The question is which colour on the new coils is the one for the handlebar switch? Regards John

Just a guess, but since the handlebar switch is a kill switch the black seems correct for that. That would suggest the orange is the signal wire. I cannot see the black being a signal wire.
