fuel shutoff on 78 wing

Postby chief771 » Fri Mar 22, 2013 1:21 pm

So I just put 4 gallons of gas in my wing, turned the fuel valve on then the fuel came pouring out, on to the floor. I was suprised how much it leaked! Thankfully when I shut the valve off the leak stopped. My problem now is how do I change the shut off with all that fuel in the tank and does anybody on here have a good shut off valve they want to sell or can mine be fixed? Thank you for reading my post!

I've done this before - an empty jerrycan and a siphon hose. Dip it down into the filler neck, start it going, and let it drain the tank.

Siphon it out and repair the shutt off valve. I have a new kit you can buy. PM me if interested.
The 78 you will have to also have to pop rivit it back together. Pre 78 you it was screwed together. You could just replace the exterior rings but if they are dried up you might as well replace the internals too.
I love my wings (both Hot and Gold) - check out my blog @ http://wingthing1000.blogspot.com/
