How are the plug wires connected to the aftermarket coils? Any suggestions on the wires and caps to use.

I didn't get the whole question in the heading. It should read replace spark plug wires and caps.

The wire connection to dyna coils is a standard automotive method. Just use standard coil connections from a car or truck. I replaced my wires with dyna wires and they were competative in cost. The spark plug end still uses the GL caps so that is no big deal either. Let me know if I am not understanding your question.

I have '76 with Dyna ignition and coils. As you're seated on your bike, your ignition wires should be connected as follows:

Right coil: The top hole goes to cylinder #1 (right/front) and the bottom hole goes to cylinder #2 (left/front).
Left coil: The top hole goes to cylinder #3 (right/rear) and the bottom hole goes to cylinder #4 (left/rear).

For ignition wires, I suggest you use Dyna 7mm wires available here. For new resistor caps, you can use either NGK's or genuine Honda, your choice. Depending on your need to be 'factory correct', you may wish to re-use your original plug cap boots and coil end boots so, don't throw your originals away.

Doug T,

When you post a question, it's best to start your own thread (rather than insert your question into another members thread) as you'll get a better response for your question and you won't take this thread off track.

To answer your question, if you want to install an electronic ignition successfully, you need detailed instructions from the manufacturer so you'll know what you're doing. No one here can tell you why your ignition doesn't work properly because we don't know: A. What type of electronic ignition you have, B. If it's working properly to begin with or, C. How you currently have it connected. I suggest that you either purchase a new Dyna electronic ignition and coil set (they come with instructions) or, bring the bike back to its original factory condition with a set of points. All of which can be found on eBay.
