starter solenoid

Postby scottedlund » Fri Oct 04, 2013 4:42 pm

ok my starter solenoid went bad and when I am looking for an aftermarket on all I can find is a 15 amp solenoid and the old on is a 30 amp. Can I use the 15 Amp and if not why and then where can I find a 30 amp solenoid

Thanks Scott In Illinois

It depends. Do you want it to melt and potentially catch fire, and probably weld the terminals in the solenoid closed and burn out your starter motor? If so, then the 15 amp one is fine.

eBay sells lots of aftermarket solenoids in 30 amp capacities.
