Lose the points, and put in a Dyna. Set it and forget it. No more split timing twice and season. Maybe upgrade the coils and wires. Good tires and ride it like you stole it.
you can go exactly .4 miles with the petcock turned off.

And if you want to gear it down just a bit more, use a 16" rear wheel, which will lower your rear 1-1/2 inches and raise your rpm by only a couple hundred. You can lace a 16" 40 spoke H-D to your drive hub or get a Lester mag. Come to think of it, I've got a spare Lester. It's the front Lester that's harder to come by.
