Pesky caliper bolt

Postby Goldenroad66 » Fri Feb 07, 2014 1:36 pm

I'm in the process of removing the rear wheel but the caliper bolt (supporter) will not budge..at all. Any tips, and anything else I should know when I remove this sucker? This is my first go-around at removing the rear wheel

It may need a good "tap" to dislodge it..You can also mix up a bit of penitrating oil...50/50 ATF and acetone....This stuff works great...viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19906

Heating it can help, but very risky due to seals. Are you using an air impact wrench. Impact is the key as Virgil said.

good heavy wrench or socket on the bolt and a hammer give some taps progressively harder.. I have used a socket with a wrench on the socket top..best grip and no racket Hadlee to break internally..
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

Finally got it off with some pb blaster and a heavy lug wrench. Little sucker was on there tight!
