primary chain oil shroud

Post by ntintruder » Mon Feb 10, 2014 9:41 pm

Started to rebuild a GL1000 engine. I have had a fair amount of experience with British engines and Honda fours in general, but this is the first Goldwing engine rebuild. It took me a week to build the engine adaptor to put it in an engine stand and when I did I split the cases and found that I seem to be missing something called a primary chain oil shroud. I'm sure that this thing is not available but judging from what I could see of it in the shop manual I could make one if I had a little better picture of it, so if anybody has a picture or knows where I could see one it would be most appreciated. Sure glad I didn't pay much for this engine.

Are you talking about what Honda calls the Oil Separator?

Or something in this picture?

There's quite a few of them on eBay for not a whole lot of money. Some images from eBay:
