Fan motor failure?

Postby Goldenroad66 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:08 pm

After a month layoff I finally tackled my timing belts and replaced the water pump, gaskets, hoses, belts, flushed the system, etc. Bike was running fine until I realized my temp gauge shot up higher then it ever has :o . Fan didn't kick on so I checked the switch and that was fine.. Turned off the bike, then I turned the key to the on position and the fan spun on (never happened before). Hit the starter button and the fan stopped. Any ideas why?

Might I add that everything was fine the day before. Temp gauge was fine, fan was working properly, and the thermostat/thermoswitch were replaced when I purchased the bike last october

Ill look at he schematic this morning to see what I can find.
Does everything else work?Horn,turn signals,headlight,park lamps,brake light,etc.??
Also, how did you determine the switch was OK and are you referring to the fan control switch that's attached to the thermostat housing, the one with 2 connections. And not the temp sending unit that has one connection.
