1977 Honda Goldwing GL1000 Timing belt replacement Question

Postby mk1959 » Mon May 17, 2010 8:10 pm

I am new to Goldwingdocs. Having a problem changing the timing belts. I have a manual that gives the instructions to do so. Fairly simple.

Up to the point of setting the cam at the proper point. I have taken the large screw off to view the fly-wheel that indicates 1 T F. The instructions indicate to set the mark at " T " with the marks on the side of the large viewing hole.

Problem is my 1977 Honda Goldwing has the marking different on the fly-wheel. Mine is marked 1 F T with a red line through the F.

So do I line the F up since its in the center or the T ? I don't want to do this incorrectly. Is the 1FT top dead center ?

Can someone please advise with written instructions .

Thanks

Mark

The F mark is used for setting the timing. The T mark is the one you want - that is the one that indicates top dead center:

Top dead center indication
Top dead center indication
