GL 1000 replacement exhaust system

Postby jacksprat54 » Fri Aug 01, 2014 3:15 pm

I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has replaced their exhaust system,(GL 1000), with the MAC 4 into 2 system. I would really like to hear from someone w/in 100 miles of ATL. who actually has this setup on their bike and would be willing to meet me, at their convenience and choice of location, so I can decide if I even liked it. Don't need it yet but it's just a matter of time. Thanks for your feedback. Jack

My '76 had one of those on it when I bought it.
That was the loudest, most annoying piece of crap ever!
My buddy couldn't stand to be behind me on his 1500.
I Quickly pulled it off and put on a pair of Harley FLH mufflers.
Much better.
George in Jersey.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I better start looking around for something different. Not finding much out there. Thanks again.

Motad in the UK do a complete stainless steel system; not cheap but you're never going to have to replace it because of rust! I have one on my bike. I know they have dealers in the States.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

Thanks for the info!! Not a horrible price, but a little steep. :? Very nice looking system and I'm presuming quiet; which is what I want. Those loud pipe days are over for this middle age man. Thanks again Old Fogey!!

Get a pair of Harley mufflers.

You can get them new on CL for less than $50.

Easy to put on and look and work great.

I'll check out the price of new headers + the Harley mufflers and see how it all compares. Thanks for the advice.
