alternatives to the stock '76 primary chain guide?

Postby Greg_C » Fri Jan 02, 2015 8:19 pm

Hi ,

The engine in my GL1000 project is currently apart but will soon be reassembled..

While the engine is in pieces I would like to do any common / reconended upgrades ...

I seem to recall reading on this site or somewhere else that a primary chain guide from a GL1200 (or another model) is compatible with my engine and is preferred over the stock guide on the '76.

I believe the newer chain guide on the GL1200 has a spring tensioner and will quiet down the primary chain noise on the older Gl1000s...

I may be confused / mistaken in the above ... If anyone can provide some guidance / point me at a previous post or a link on this subject it would be much appreciated..

Thanks

Greg

You are correct. Both the 1100 and 1200 have a tensioner. Look here. http://www.wingovations.com/fitting-a-s ... 4584942275
