I am getting ready to repaint my 1977 Gl1000. Needless to say I want to do a good job so the new paint looks nice and lasts a long time. In order to do a proper job I want to make sure I know what the material is I am going to paint. That way I can do the right prep work before I apply the paint.
I am unsure of what material the side shelter and side cover are made out of. Is it fiberglass or some sort of plastic? If you would take the time to educate me I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Side Shelter and Side Cover Material Type
It is not fiberglass, more like a thermoset plastic. Not sure what kind, but I have had great results with automotive primer.

from what I understand, these plastic parts are ABS plastics and you can use automotive primer and paint.ezridermn wrote:I am getting ready to repaint my 1977 Gl1000.
