GL1000 frame serial number

Postby aegeanrider » Sat Mar 07, 2015 4:27 am

Hello i have a Gl1000 LTD which i try to find the frame serial number!!!!!.
The motorcycle is without any restoration or accident. Also the motor ,carbs and final drive have serial numbers.
Is it possible the frame to be without serial number from factory?
Thank you

The frame serial number is stamped on the right side of the steering head. Since yours is an LTD I can't be sure.

The LTD vin plate is the same as the 1977 GL, on the left side of the steering head and visible with the wheel pointed straight forward. If there is no VIN plate, I would think it is possible that it was not a factory LTD frame.

There should also be a frame number stamped directly into the metal of the steering head on the right side. Vin plates can easily go missing.
