I'm looking to put a spring bobber seat on my 1979 honda gl1000. Has anyone done this and if so what conversion kit did you use or how did you make it work. I've looked at several conversion kits but not sure which would work. Dont want to change bike to the point I can no longer use a standard seat when I want. Whats your thoughts.

What would the rear fender look like with a bobber seat. If it's anything like a 1500 it would be pretty funky to look at. They had alot of sets on a google search. Take the cheapest on you could find, cut it to look like you want and have someone customize upholster it. I'd use a picture, trace it on paper and draw a seat on it to see what it would look like, might not look too good. Two springs should be easy enough to find. Or just buy a bobber seat and customize it to mount on.
